My fitness journey began in 2012. After getting married, I realized that over the course of the previous year, I had gained about 15 pounds. This was the most I had ever weighed and I had become uncomfortable and unhappy with my body. With a past that included anorexia, limited physical activities and no knowledge of good nutrition, I did not want to repeat or continue those patterns. I knew that I needed to make a healthy change that included proper nutrition and exercise. I began by researching weightlifting programs for women online, reading fitness nutrition articles and following different bodybuilders on social media. The beginning of my journey was rocky, but I never gave up. I started to incorporate the bits and pieces of information that I found into my everyday life and training….and I began to see results! I lost overall body fat and started to build muscle. I went from hating how I looked in the mirror to loving my body again. I stopped obsessing over what the weight on the scale said and started taking pictures to measure progress. With these results came energy, happiness, motivation and an addiction to fitness. I became passionate about weight lifting, fitness nutrition and overall fitness. I wanted to know more about how my body could transform and I wanted to share my story with everyone!

In November 2015, I decided to take my first course through the ISSA to become a Certified Specialist in Fitness Nutrition. At the time, I was working a full-time job as a Personal Banker and used my spare time on lunch breaks, after work and on the weekends to focus on obtaining my certification. I was motivated because I knew if I had this certification that I would finally be able to coach others on the importance of proper fitness nutrition. In January 2016, I received my certification and two weeks later I found out that I was pregnant! Throughout my pregnancy, I put to use my knowledge of Fitness Nutrition and, with my doctors blessing, continued to exercise until the day before I went into labor.

Upon having our daughter in October 2016, my husband and I agreed that it was the best option for me to stay home to take care of her. I resigned from my position as a Personal Banker and became a full-time mom. Going through pregnancy and becoming a mom confirmed just how important it is to develop a healthy fitness lifestyle and a healthy relationship with food. Having these lifestyle tools made my postpartum recovery easier, gave me more energy and confidence, and kept me strong and resilient. I felt like I had even more of a story to share! Three months after having my daughter, I decided to continue my training and became a Certified Personal Trainer through the ISSA. I completed this course and became certified in April 2017.

In May 2017, I opened my own online personal training business, A Fitness Project, in hopes that I can help others achieve the body of their dreams. By August 2017, I was training clients and transforming bodies! I’ve since been coaching clients on how to create a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. Along with helping clients learn how to incorporate great nutrition and exercise into their daily habits, I’ve had the opportunity help clients lose weight, build muscle, build strength and endurance. I am so grateful that I am able to share my knowledge, expertise and passion with those who are ready and willing to make a lifestyle change. I hope to inspire others through my story and to have the chance show people that anyone can absolutely have the body of their dreams!
